An Account of How We Settled our Hotel Account


We had decided on Goa as the venue for Big Bash 2, and charged Uday with finding us a place near the beach etc.

Citrus Goa, the venue chosen by Uday with inputs from his friend Mathias, insisted that 40% of the money be paid up front to reserve our rooms, and cancellations after 31 Dec would be penalized

Uday took on the onerous task of collecting this money in his personal bank account, and paid the advance of 1,40,000 to Citrus by the appointed time. However advance amounts kept pouring in, so there was much bookkeeping to be done, so Ekta volunteered to help him

By and large the account of advance collected was clear enough, and the last such (Jan 23,2013) totalled 178850. Then Manju and Ekta cancelled, leaving 168850 (10000 to be returned by Uday to them)

However,  Uday  settled his entire bill when checking out, taking no credit for advance.  So his amount should be reduced from the advance , leaving ony 163850...

Then, the strange amount (6700) paid by Jagdeep included money slated for Golden Eye, should he decide to arrive early.  That would not have mattered, had he taken credit for it when settling his bill, but he very honestly told Citrus that his share of advance was ony 5100
Citrus thus checked out Kamal and Jagdeep as having paid 10100 between them in advance, and the balance at checkout...

But Kamal's share had been missed out in the interim account handed over by Uday to Jude, which thus  totalled to 158850  (but only 158750 was actually paid to Jude)

After removing Jagdeep's extra 1600, the total advance payable to Citrus was then 162250, and Uday had to pay only 3500 more to Jude.
Compared with 10000 claimed by Jude (excusably, as the difference between 158850 received and 168850 shown in the accounts of advance) this was good (and correct)!

This issues with the concurrence of Uday ;)
